Alcon Returns to Grand-AM Racing Through 2012
|
Posted (01/30/2010) -
DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. (Jan. 30, 2010) - Continuing their successful participation in the GRAND-AM Rolex Sports Car Series presented by Crown Royal Cask No. 16, Alcon has agreed to extend its relationship with GRAND-AM through the 2012 season. The sponsorship is active in the Daytona Prototype class, which was back in action with this weekend's start of the 2010 Rolex Sports Car Series season at the 48th Rolex 24 At Daytona.
The contingency structure provides rewards in every round of Rolex Sports Car Series competition, going to both the first position Alcon-equipped Daytona Prototype class machines, as well as to the Daytona Prototype Alcon entries that finish fifth.
"Cars featuring Alcon brakes have been taking part and winning in the Rolex 24 for over 20 years, so we are delighted to be announcing our continued partnership with GRAND-AM as a contingency partner for a further 3 years. The Contingency awards program is a great way for Alcon to support our loyal customers in the series who amongst many include 2009 series champions Gainsco/Bob Stallings Racing and GT pole winners at this weekend's Rolex 24," said Phil Stubbs - President of Alcon Components USA, Inc.
"It is our pleasure to extend this relationship with Alcon - especially with the key role they play as a component in the highly competitive Daytona Prototype class," said Kevin Hindson, GRAND-AM Vice President, Marketing and Communications. "We are pleased to see that Alcon has chosen to be among the many contingency sponsors that value their involvement with the series, and we are looking forward to working with them for many years to come."
The contingency program is one of over 20 such sponsorships in place that award prizes to GRAND-AM drivers and teams in GRAND-AM's Rolex Sports Car Series and Continental Tire Sports Car Challenge.
