Posted (11/22/2009) - HOMESTEAD, Fla. - Although Denny Hamlin and the No. 11 Joe Gibb's Racing crew didn't leave Homestead-Miami Speedway with a championship, a hard fought effort throughout the Chase for the Sprint Cup garnered Hamlin his fourth victory of the season.

After starting the race in 38th position Hamlin began his march towards the front of the field. A quick pit stop by the No. 11 crew gave Hamlin the chance to claim the lead for the first time on lap 156. Hamlin battled in the top five the rest of the race, leading three different times for a race-high total of 71 laps. Hamlin took the lead from his teammate Kyle Busch for the final time on lap 223 crossing the finish line 2.632 seconds ahead of second place.

"It's been a great year," Hamlin said. "To get four wins and to win on a track that people don't necessarily expect us to win on is a great deal. Starting this car in the back and coming to the front was a show. We hope to be where Jimmie (Johnson) is at in a couple of years and we're showing that we do have a little bit of strength."

Despite bad luck and not being able to finish three of the season's final 10 races, Hamlin earned four victories this season and an impressive 15 top-five and 20 top-ten finishes. The No. 11 team finished the season fifth in the overall point standings.

Joe Gibbs Racing had another reason to celebrate at Homestead when Hamlin's rookie teammate Joey Logano made history by becoming the youngest driver in the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series to win Raybestos Rookie of the Year honors. Logano claimed Raybestos Rookie of the Race honors 26 times out of 36 races this season.

"That's cool," Logano reacted to the news, "That was one of our big goals this year."

President of Joe Gibbs Racing, JD Gibbs, was pleased with the team's performance, "We are real excited to watch Joey (Logano) following in the footsteps of Tony (Stewart) and Kyle (Busch) and Denny (Hamlin) by winning Raybestos Rookie of the Year."

Hamlin's victory marked his eighth career win and the ninth Sprint Cup Series victory in 2009 for cars utilizing Raybestos brakes engineered by Alcon. The Joe Gibbs Racing No. 02, 11, 18 and 20 teams ran the Raybestos Intermediate Front and Superspeedway Rear Packages engineered by Alcon using OSCA technology at Homestead-Miami Speedway.

Alcon has a technical and commercial alliance with Raybestos the "Official Brakes of NASCAR." Alcon designs, manufactures and provides technical support for Raybestos branded calipers, rotors, hats & hardware for use with Raybestos racing friction in NASCAR competition.
